The Colorado American Legion Adventures was created and is administered by volunteers of The American Legion, Department of Colorado.

CALA founder and current President/Chairman, Luke Short, is a veteran of the US Army Air Defense Artillery, having served with the 4th Infantry Division and the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He is a member of American Legion, LCW Post#1 in Denver, Colorado where he serves as Post Historian, as well as a voting member of both the Executive and House Committees.  An adventurer at heart, Luke took an idea and ran with it, creating with the help of his comrades, the program we have today.

The Department Commander, Frank McCurdy, US Air Force (Lt. Col.) Retired, former Douglas County Commissioner and United Airlines 747 Captain, has been making good use of his time as Commander.  To say he has been critical toward the successful development of CALA would be a huge understatement. Not only has Frank championed the effort of drumming up support for this programinternally, he has been a key player in conceptual development. Without his mentoring, CALA would not be the program it has become.

Mel Robinson, the incumbent Adjutant at LCW Post#1, former US Army Signal Officer of the 25th Infantry Division and brilliant public relations man, has played a huge role in helping to further the development of CALA.  Mel has spent countless hours working with Frank and Luke, exploring marketing strategies, crafting business proposals and generally supporting the concept.
