CALA Powder Group

Colorado American Legion Adventures (CALA) is an adventure sports program, developed by The American Legion, Department of Colorado, and is designed to offer outdoor programs to Veterans, Sons, Auxiliary members and their families.  The program is intended to provide the opportunity to for members to join their comrades in exciting, adrenaline-filled activities, experience the thrill of the outdoors and develop strong bonds with fellow members and their families.

The CALA Powder Group is an affiliate of the CALA and is a group comprised of members who are interested in hitting the slopes and sharing the experience with other veterans and friends.  Whether you might be a snowboarder, downhill, cross-country or back-country skier, all of our motives are essentially the same.  Get out on the mountain, and shred it up with your friends!
Some of the goals of this group are to draw veterans of all ages together with a fun and healthy activity, and to return to them the sense of camaraderie that is often lacking after one leaves active military service.  Members of this group will not only have the opportunity to connect with their comrades, but will do so in an exciting and stimulating environment, chock full of natural beauty with expansive vistas and deep contrasts, which are rarely available for experience outside of the Colorado Rockies.

Members of the group are additionally fortunate of the fact that Colorado resorts are among the most accessible in the country with over twenty-five across the state and a third of those accessible within a two hour drive from downtown Denver!  Furthermore, Colorado resorts enjoy a relatively long season lasting from November thru April, allowing many great days of slope time to snow sports enthusiasts.

Membership will also entitle you to exclusive discounts on lift tickets, gear and equipment only available with participation in this program.  You will also receive stickers, patches and pins highlighting your achievements, and will potentially qualify you to represent the CALA as a member of the CALA Powder Team Elite, which will be tasked with competing in events, and returning athletic prestige to the organization.

Participation in the CALA Powder Group is non-exclusive, however all potential members should be in good health, moderately active, and willing to push themselves to their physical and mental limits.
